Introduction continued...The issue I chose was deforestation. I chose this issue because it is huge globally. Trees are being cut down and nobody seems to be concerned since it doesn’t directly affect us yet. I want to raise awareness about how we are slowly destroying the planet we call our home.

This issue matters because trees provide us the oxygen we breathe. Also, not only do trees help humans live, but they also serve as home, shelter, and food source for many other animals. When trees are rid of entirely, which at this rate would only take us about one-hundred more years, this would result in ruined life for everyone in this world. Think about seventy percent of different animals and plants going extinct because there is no shelter, home, or food sources. Imagine soil drying out because trees can’t protect it from the sun. Imagine sudden weather changes that harm plants and animals.

Through this project I really want to spread awareness about this very important issue. I know and have noticed that humans are very selfish creatures. Not only do we constantly compete with one another for tangible and expensive objects that don’t improve people, but we also like to destroy and not repair. Global warming, deforestation, extinction, animal testing, all of these are not new to the world or to humanity; however, that doesn’t change the fact that they aren’t being acknowledged. Who is advocating for the environment we are destroying? The environment can’t stand up for itself and the few people who try to make a change are shut down.
We are killing this earth and don’t even lift a finger to stop its destruction. We have taken everything from it without hesitation or worrying about the outcomes. Since the beginning of the industrial revolution in the 1700’s, forests have been cleared of trees. Today, rainforests are disappearing at quite an alarming rate for commercial purposes, such as recreational, logging, timber, and fuel. Eliminating trees from our earth would mean no more agriculture, wildlife, or clearing some of the emitted greenhouse gases. This is significant because this causes the earth to rot, slowly killing our one and only home.
